Our Story

Take Note Lessons began when the husband and wife team of Michelle Maves and James Delgenio decided to launch a company together.

At the time, James and Michelle had been working separately for other top teaching companies. In 2012, they decided to combine their years of teaching experience in New York, Los Angeles, and Chicago to form Take Note Lessons. Take Note provides in-home lessons that serve the needs of students in the New York City area and worldwide via the internet.

In the years since, Michelle and James have worked with hundreds of families, including celebrities, high-profile clients, and international students. Take Note has grown to include a team of talented instructors covering a full range of academic and artistic fields. Each teacher is carefully selected and screened so that instruction from Take Note is fun, engaging, and effective. James and Michelle also personally maintain a full roster of students.

Outside of leading Take Note, Michelle and James are avid Broadway patrons, love to watch game shows, and are proud pet parents of two rescue dogs, Barkley and Evey.
